The holiday, which falls on Sunday, March 31 this year, is an important one for the millions of people around the world who follow the Christian faith. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and follows a 40-day period known as Lent.
The date the holiday is celebrated changes from year to year because it is one of many "moveable feasts" in the liturgical calendar, according to the History Channel. Other "moveable feasts" include Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday.
If you're looking to execute a banking transaction or mail a package this weekend, you may want to do it before Sunday, as most banks, post offices and shipping services will be closed on the holiday. Here's what you need to know.
